Ehud, A Man Left Handed by Nathaniel Urshan

Judges 3: The Israelites begged the LORD for help, and the LORD chose Ehud from the Benjamin tribe to rescue them. They put Ehud in charge of taking the taxes to King Eglon, but before Ehud went, he made a double-edged dagger. Ehud was left-handed, so he strapped the dagger to his right thigh, where it would be hidden under his robes. Ehud went with the other Israelites as far as the statues at Gilgal. Then he turned back and went upstairs to the cool room where Eglon had his throne. Ehud said, “Your Majesty, I need to talk with you in private.” Eglon replied, “Don’t say anything yet!” His officials left the room, and Eglon stood up as Ehud came closer. “Yes,” Ehud said, “I have a message for you from God!” Ehud pulled out the dagger with his left hand and shoved it so far into Eglon’s stomach that even the handle was buried in his fat. Ehud left the dagger there. Then after closing and locking the doors to the room, he climbed through a window onto the porch.

And so the COMING OF EHUD represents the COMING OF TRUTH that Paul the apostle preached in order to bring us VICTORY.

• Paul’s’ message SLAYS THE OLD MAN who is VERY FLESHLY.

Ehud said: Judges 3:19 …Ehud said, “I have a message for you from God!”

• A MESSAGE FROM GOD is GOD’S WORD.

Paul ministered the WORD OF GOD TO US SAYING…

Romans 6:5-6 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: (6) Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Israel served MOAB like Christians serve SIN when in defeat.

The OLD MAN represents the FLESHLY people we all were in sin.

Paul was a Benjamite.
• Most famous man of Benjamin in the New Testament.
• He preached much about Jesus ascended in the KINGDOM to the RIGHT HAND OF GOD.
• So many references to Benjamites in the Old Testament have a message of the work of the cross and the Kingdom of Jesus as Paul preached.
• A Benjamite told FAT Eli that the Ark was captured (1 Sam 4:12-18).
• This caused Eli to fall back and break his neck in death, due to his weight.
• The ark taken was like Jesus, when after three days the ark of the covenant destroyed the idol of Dagon.

Israel was captive due to sin and fleshliness.
• Eglon the fat enemy king represents a Christian’s flesh ruling one’s life.
• Brings you into bondage.

Church preaches messages like Paul’s teachings.
• It keeps the flesh at bay, and keeps you from captivity and bondage.
• And those in bondage can hear it and be set free as Ehud, the Benjamite was used by God to set Israel free from the bondage of Moab.

Learn to BELIEVE God’s Word and live by it.
• Focus on such things.
• Take time and read the Bible with the mindset that you will BELIEVE WHAT IT SAYS.
• Look at the scriptures preached after they’re preached.
• If God said you are buried with Christ into HIS DEATH so that you can have victory over sin, then believe it.
• Go over it and over it until it hits you and something sparks in your heart that you can really know what it is like to KNOW YOU HAVE VICTORY IN JESUS.

EGLON ruling over Israel represents the FLESHLY LIFESTYLE ruling over your life.
